VOIP Ruckus network

Posted on 31 Jan, 2020, in Uncategorized

Can you help me improve VOIP in my network, I have around 20 ruckus switches that are connected to one core switch. Now, users are complaining that they have a problem with the voice quality, but I am not sure if it’s the network issue. Every phone port has trust dscp configured, can you let me know what else can I do from a network perspective to improve voip? Maybe qos configuration advice?

Ruckus AP R510 not broadcasting WIFI since change of router

Posted on 27 Jan, 2020, in Uncategorized

I have a Lennar home with a Ruckus switch icx 7150-c12p, which is then hardwired to 2 different R510 APs. When I moved to this house, AT&T had installed the internet, they had installed their modem router combo, which was hard-wired to the Ruckus 7150. Yesterday I switched service to Spectrum and got their modem installed. I added my Netgear Nighthawk router to the modem and then took the Eth cable from AT&T modem-router and plugged into my router. I thought this would work seamlessly. I did not change anything else. So now it looks like, Spectrum modem -> Netgear router -> Ruckus switch. But unfortunately, this lead to APs not broadcasting my Wifi anymore, I could not connect to them. Then I connected a Eth cable to switch and checked internet connectivity with a laptop which works fine. I tried power cycle switch, router etc. I even unplugged POE cables for APs to power cycle them. None of this helped. Then after a while, I replugged my ATT router back to switch and everything started working again. I need to get rid of ATT service so I need to make this work but do not know-how. What could be done?TDLR- changed router from ATT to Netgear, APs not broadcasting any Wifi, only internet is with ETH cable from Switch.

Ruckus R500 for home AP???

Posted on 24 Jan, 2020, in Uncategorized

This is my first experience with any Ruckus product.  Without going into too much unnecessary detail, I will need wireless access to my home network soon and have acquired a R500 that will hopefully fit the bill.  It has the ZoneFlex Solo Access Point 110.0.0.0.675 loaded on it.  Currently I have the basic home setup, some computers, ipads, TVs some IOT devices, etc that is wireless from my current setup (Calix 844g-1 provided by my ISP).  I’m kind of hoping to VLAN some of this stuff out and have read that the Ruckus should fit the bill.  My first real question, is this the software that I need to do what I’m looking to do or should I reconfigure?  The second question is, would there be a better option (without breaking the bank)?  Thanks in advance!!

ICX 7150 upgrade

Posted on 22 Jan, 2020, in Uncategorized

Hi,I did understand that there is a two tier approach to upgrade the firmware to the latest UFI code. The recommended SW is:I assume the R means router image:SPR08090d.binSPR08090dufi.binI did not recieved the hardware yet, i plan to upgrade my customers campus with 5x 7150 in ring topology / (remote) stack configuration.Depending on the default sw, i would need to downgrade /upgrade to the 8080e code before attempting to upgrade to 8090 or 8092? We do not plan to use zone director, because customers campus is possibly to small for such requirement, then the 8092 is the most future proof image at this moment in time? The cusotmer may be interested in LAG groups, that is why he would need the router image, because that is a layer 3 feature – is that correct?Without the router image, the 7150 cant configure LAG on his access ports?  Stacking /Trunking is not influenced by the choice of sw image (switch /router)?

Ruckus r510 range improvement for dummies?

Posted on 07 Jan, 2020, in Uncategorized

We recently purchased a smart home that has a Ruckus r510 AP installed in the ceiling of the front entryway, which is connected to a Ruckus ICX-7150 switch in a media cabinet in the laundry room.  All the smart home features seem to be working pretty well — the only complaint I have is that there are a few “dead spots”, locations in the house  where it seems to take forever to get my smartphone to communicate to the smart home devices through the supporting apps.  I was wondering what options I might have to improve reception/range to try to eliminate these dead spots. I would not consider myself an expert on home Wi-Fi & networking, but I’m a quick study — I’m hoping for a fairly economical solution that would also minimizes the chances of me unintentionally crashing my smart home to a point where I can’t recover with my limited knowledge!

Lennar house with Ruckus r510 and ICX 7150 C12P not connected at 1000-Full

Posted on 06 Jan, 2020, in Uncategorized

Hi. I bought a Lennar home and it came pre-installed with Ruckus r510 and ICX 7150 C12P. I’m getting around 100 Mbps from speed tests while on the r510. However, on my Asus, I’m pulling around 580 Mbps. I believe the issue is that I’m uplinked from the r510 to the ICX at 100 Full.  I can’t seem to change the NIC port speeds on my r510 to 1000 Mbps Full. Below are the CLI output from the r510 and ICX. The r510 is connected to port 1/1/1. Port 1/1/3 is uplink to my AT&T modem.
